The PGI Transplant Games have a rich history of celebrating organ donation and transplantation in India. The inaugural event was held on March 28, 1981, at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh, marking the beginning of a tradition that has continued over the years. Subsequent games have been hosted in various cities, with notable events at PGIMER in 2014 and 2016. The ROTTO-PGI Transplant Games serve as a testament to the strength and determination of transplant recipients and donors, promoting awareness about organ donation and celebrating the gift of life through sports and community engagement.

The upcoming ROTTO PGI Transplant Games 2025 are scheduled for March 22-23 at the Sector 7 Stadium in Chandigarh. This event is organized by the Organ Transplant Trust, in association with ROTTO (Regional Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization), the Indian Society of Transplant Surgeons (ISTS), and ORGAN India.

PGI Transplant Games 2025

The 2025 Games will feature two distinct segments:

1. Festive Events: Designed to foster camaraderie and community spirit, these activities include tug of war, carrom, and poster making, among others, offering participants a fun and engaging experience. This will be open to transplant recipients, organ donor, supporters, friends and family.

2. Competitive Events: In collaboration with ORGAN India, this segment will host serious competitions for elite transplant athletes. Click here for details of the competitive events. Outstanding performers in these events will be considered for grants to participate in the World Transplant Games 2025 in Dresden, Germany, representing Team India. Awardees will be selected by the Organizing Committee based on excellence in their respective fields, with final decisions at the committee’s discretion. Participation in these events will be open to organ recipients and organ donors only. **Please note – only organ recipients are eligible for grants.

Registration Fee

A registration fee of ₹500 is applicable for all participants, payable at the time of registration. The payment of the registration fee entitles the athletes to a welcome kit as well as a meal coupon for 23 March.
